BORN:  Goran was born in New England in the 40s. Who better to tell the story of what it was like to grow up in a time when there were no TVs, computers, and cell phones? Back in a time when one had to seek his or her own adventure, there was no sitting all day in front of a screen being force-fed, so-called adventure with no participation. No… no… my friends. In those days, adventure did not come without physical involvement, risk, and a keenly developed sense of survival. Even then, few had the courage and insatiable appetite to learn the unknown, as did Casey and Tim. One thing I can guarantee you, the word ‘boredom’ was not in Casey or Tim’s vocabulary, nor will you find it in No Time to Duck.

 

GREW UP: in Marlborough Mass. In the 40s and 50s, Our only home entertainment was the radio with shows such as Parry Mason… Mr. and Mrs. North… The Shadow…. “Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts and minds of men? The Shadow does, ha, ha, ha-a-a-a…” I digress.

Both parents worked, and the burden of childcare fell on my older sister. That story, in itself, is worthy of a novel.

 

LEARNED: from my father, who was the storyteller at family gatherings, how to engage and hold the attention of an audience. While engaging my bride-to-be and her four children in the stories of my childhood, she suggested that I write them down for future family members lest I forget them over time. Hence, my first novel “Casey in No Time to Duck”.
